Ive never had a shake so good in my life. Key lime milk shake was to die for. Food is awesome. Happy to find battered mushrooms. A long wait but worth it. Id rather give them my money than a big franchise.
The D & R Drive-in burger stand is a throwback of days gone by. They service the local population & travelers driving through town to destinations abroad. The burgers are specially made for them, the fries are as good as they get & the milkshakes are good too. I've been eating here for the last 23 years & I have never had a bad meal here.
Sitting here in there parklot just finished eating and thought it would be a great time to write a review (damn I hate traveling by myself). Pulled up to the window and was greeted by a very friendly young lady. I found it strange that they never ask if I would like to add a tip when I paid by debit. I pulled around back and was again greeted very pleasantly and almost immediately got handed one of the BEST butter rum shakes I've ever had. A few minutes later out came the food I ordered. Mushroom burger w/ cheese and bacon, deep fried mushrooms and get this mushroom fries (fries with a mushroom gravy). Everything tasted like deep fried goodness. I'm sure I just may drop from a jammer on my way home but at least my last meal was awesome. A little pricey but what isn't nowadays. This place reminded me of the old days and that alone was worth the price of admission. I left full but for $21 I would have expected to have something to munch on later tonight. I would recommend coming here when you're in Innisfail. Tell them the "fungi" sent you !
D and D Drive -In will treat your taste buds to a wonderful eating experience. They have a nice but short menu. The staff are friendly and certainly know how to cook. There is no inside eating, however they do have a quaint patio. It is definitely worth trying.
I've been a consistent customer of d&r since I was young it has been a go too for my family and I. The slower than average service over the last few years since it got new owners hasn't bothered me. It's something that happens. But today really was a step too far. As I recently acquired a right hand drive vehicle and have been avoiding eating out on my lunch hour due to the inconvenience ignoring drive through ability. I thought hey D&R has an easily accessible drive through I'll just do it backwards. Boy was I wrong! I backed up to the window to be told by the owner that I will not be served unless I drive through in the proper direction. When I informed him that he will not be asleep serve me from the other side and I was just trying to make everyone's life easier I was told in a very disrespectful manner that I would not be served and to leave the drive through. I meant no disrespect by my actions and as I visit a minimum of twice a week in my other vehicles I never would have expected to be treated this way. My family and I will no longer be supporting their restaurant for no other reason then the attitude of the owner. I am very disappointed in how he conducted himself in this circumstance.
